Friday 12th June, weekly update :
The good news is all of our evening games ran this week with a minimum of 21 boards in 7 rounds, or 24 boards in 8 rounds when we had sufficient tables.
However, none of our daytime tournaments had sufficient support to run (minimum 3 tables). This is understandable considering the longer Summer days, lockdown easing, and the CBAI getting all the Clubs setup with their own BBO platforms.
I’ll give them another week, if you want these games to continue you’ll have to play in them. Otherwise we'll abandon them for now, but try again in September.
If this results in a surplus at the end of June there’ll be an increased prize fund for the May/June honours list and prizes for Sunday 28th June.
Friday evening, 12th June
Winners tonight were Billy Ronan & Pat Cassidy on 65%, cementing their first & second places on the honours list. Second place goes to Margaret Maher & Fedelma Martin, with Bernie Rountree & Mary Flynn in third. Well done all.

We had a 5 table howell tonight, so we had our full compliment of 24 boards.
Best human pair tonight were James & Catherine Connolly, but they were pipped into third place by a couple robot assisted humans. There was a three way tie for fourth place between Margaret Maher & Mary Flynn, Anne Darmody & Mary Power, and Jim O'Reilly & Kieran Connolly.

Tonight we had a 4 table howell.
We invited in a couple of Substitutes to fill the half table, ChinEire (Padraig) and "Le Rat" (Traverst) all the way from France. Then they went and won on us, that wasn't in the script. Well done anyway guys.
Second place went to Jim O'Reilly & Kieran Connolly, and Catherine Egan and her chatty robot just pipping Howard and Edythe Jacobs for third spot. Well done all.

A very interesting 5 table howell tonight, and our emphatic winners were Antoinette Harrison and Patricia Collins, ahead of their robot assisted host, and Elizabeth Meagher and Mark Ryan in third. Well done all.

First, the good news, there will be (modest) prizes for leaders of our Monthly honours list. OK, very modest. The prizes will be in BB$ transferred to your BridgeBase account, and obviously only paid up members qualify.

Registering to play
We have had a few games cancelled because we didn’t have the bare minimum of three tables.
Someone mentioned that they hadn’t registered because they were waiting to see how many others would be playing. If everyone follows that strategy nobody would register.
To reassure anyone with that concern, if we don’t have three full tables, the game will be cancelled 5 minutes before start. Anyone who has registered will not use up a game credit for a game that doesn’t happen.
If we do only have three tables (5 round howell) we can play 4 board rounds, (or 5 board if registered players ask 5 minutes before start).
Sunday 7pm replaces Wednesday game
The Wednesday game has been particularly poorly attended. So instead from this Sunday, 7th June, there will be a 7PM game on Sundays, replacing the Wednesday night game.
Free guests
As previously announced, for the first week of June any paid up member can bring a guest completely free of charge. This Sunday will be the last day you can do that.
Guests
However, as most of you are not using your full game credit allowance, until the end of August, any paid up member may use their game credits to bring a visitor.
Monday morning feeling
I asked you all whether you would prefer a 10:30 start to the Monday game. Those that responded were pretty evenly divided. In an effort to please everyone from 8th June, the Monday morning game will start at 10:45 a.m.

Best all-human pair tonight tonight were Margaret Maher & Bernie Rountree, but they were pipped by a sneaky Robot. A three way tie for third place, between Elizabeth Meagher & Deirdre Leopold, Kieran Connolly & Jim O'Reilly, and Fedelma Martin & Claire Streckler. Well done all.
Winner this morning was Anne Marie Feeney with her Partner Bob, of the strong, silent type, Strong & 5 that is. I was helped into second place by my trusty Robot, and Richard Hartheimer and Howard Jacobs shared third spot with Catherine Egan and yet another Robot.

Friday evening, 29th May
It seems the Robots were in poor form tonight, three robots played & it was a close run thing for last.
No such doubt about the winners, first timers Fran Ronan and visitor Sean Connor on 66.25% taking an emphatic victory ahead of Fedelma Martin & Margaret Maher.
And that whopping score shoots Fran to the top of our members honours list, but I'm afraid Fran it won't count unless you have at least one more score.
